The Canadian Association of the Deaf – Association des Sourds du Canada (CAD-ASC) is introducing a new project to teach both providers and consumers about the Internet safety and privacy rights in regards to deaf and hard of hearing people across Canada.
The Deaf Perspectives on Identity Theft and Privacy project. Firstly, the CAD-ASC tought businesses that provide Internet and communications services about the challenges for Deaf and hard of hearing people when they try to access information. The project’s second goal is to teach Deaf Canadians about identity theft, Internet fraud, scams, and privacy rights and threats.
The CAD-ASC hosted conference for Deaf leaders from across Canada to discuss their concerns with service providers from across Canada. CAD-ASC will host presentations in at least 12 cities from Vancouver to Halifax that will explain the importance of Internet safety and encourage lasting partnerships between the Deaf and the service providers in their communities.
